Cathedral Choirs

St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral is proud to have the following choirs: The Cathedral Choir, The Cathedral Choristers,The Cherub Choir, Saint Cecilia Choir, and Schola Santorum.

The St. Paul's Cathedral Choir is comprised of our youth choristers and several volunteer and professional staff singers. Each September through late May, the choir sings at the 9:00 a.m. Holy Eucharist Rite II, weekly, as well as choral evensong. Parishioners who are interested in joining must meet with Canon Musician Joseph Ripka. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings (Mid August - Late May) from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the choir room.

Cathedral Choristers

The Cathedral Chorister program provides youth with a foremost musical education that embraces the tradition of children's voices. For nearly one thousand years, children (primarily boys until the last sixty years) have sung daily services in the great cathedrals and collegiate chapels of England. Our holistic approach to training these choristers places equal emphasis on musical development, religious education, leadership training and social activities. Cathedral Choristers receive professional training in the fundamentals of music including sight-reading, ear-training, and music theory. The program is open to boys and girls in grades K through 12. Teen boys with changed voices are also welcome. Rehearsal times offer flexibility and choristers are required to attend twice per week. Currently, choristers sing on occasion at the 9:00 a.m. service and lead Choral Evensong once a month.

This is a Oklahoma community program, and open and available to anyone who would like to join. Membership at St. Paul's or a particular religious or faith affiliation is not required.

Interested families should contact Canon Musician Designate Joseph Ripka to set up a meeting or email Joseph for more information or click HERE to sign up.

Schola Cantorum

The Schola Cantorum is comprised of volunteer and professional staff singers. This choir sings at the 11:30 a.m. Holy Eucharist Rite I, choral evensong, and choral compline. Membership is through invitation and audition. Rehearsals are Tuesdays from 7:00-9:00 pm. in the Choir Room. To set up an audition, contact Canon Musician Joseph Ripka.

St. Cecilia Singers

The St. Cecilia Singers provide music for St. Paul's Contempative Worship Service entitled "Draw Near." They rehearse Tuesdays at 7 p.m. under the direction of Mary Reynolds. If you are interested in joining, please contact Mary HERE.

HISTORY
In 2001, Canon Susan Joplin asked Mary to provide music for a contemplative service inspired by the spiritual community of Taizé in southern France. She recruited singers to help with the chanting and hymning, and this group became known as the Taizé Choir. That group served from September 2001 until March 2020, when the pandemic made it impossible to meet. In 2023, the Taize Choir reconvened under a new name, The Saint Cecilia Singers, which provides music for an evening contemplative service once a month.
