Sunday, August 24 at 10:10 am, Dean Willey Hall
Those
attending a recent Safeguarding God’s Children program reached this
consensus: Our whole community would be safer if everyone would take
this short program aimed at stopping sexual abuse of children. From
listening to the victims, the parents and even the perpetrators, there
is so much to be gained.
So, we invite everyone to join us for a
10:10 Sunday, Aug. 24, forum, for an overview of this program, which
was created by the Episcopal Church. It’s required training for anyone
who works with youth in church programs.
Our recent group
included parishioners Teresa Black, prosecutor of child pornography and
sexual abuse cases; Dr. Michael Henrickson, pediatrician experienced in
the care of child victims; Gypsy Hogan, reporter on this type of abuse;
Jim Gray, inner city elementary school teacher additionally trained in
recognizing signs of child sexual abuse; and parent Mary Jewett who was
confronted with a neighborhood case. All agreed that this program is
for everyone.
We hope that after you learn about our experience, you’ll want to attend the next three-hour Safeguarding God’s Children, scheduled for the morning of Saturday, Sept. 27, with presenters Rick and Jani Hill.
However,
just 30 minutes on a Sunday morning will make our whole community
stronger and our children safer. So, please mark your calendar for
10:10 am Sunday, Aug. 24.
