George H. Back was born in New York City. He graduated in Bard College and The General Theological Seminary. He served as Curate at St. John’s Church, Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Rector of Christ Memorial Church, North Brookfield, Massachusetts and Canon Pastor of the Cathedral Church of St. Luke in Orlando Florida. He came to Oklahoma City in 1982 to serve as Dean of St. Paul’s Cathedral. He has recently written Christmas Joy: Let Heaven & Nature Sing.

Canon Back has been on staff since 2002 and has attended St. Paul’s since he was child. He is a graduate of Virginia Theology Seminary and holds degrees from University of Oklahoma in Higher Education Administration and European Studies. He is also a graduate of Casady School. He and his wife, Meredith, have three children, Louisa, Simon & Joshua.
