    As Christmas passes and we begin the new calendar year, the Dean Search Committee continues to review the ministry portfolios of potential candidates. Our second and final print ad in the Living Church ran at the end of December. We can anticipate a few more applications from this ad.

    As I write, the Dean Search Committee has reviewed 53 ministry portfolios from potential candidates and we are deeply into the process of discerning who among these potential candidates we should pursue. The process is not an exact science, and it is difficult and perhaps unfair to those not selected that we should assess one’s abilities from a mere few pages. But we lack the time and resources to contact and interview each person, and are learning to trust in the process.

    At its second meeting, the Dean Search Committee adopted the following Covenant to guide us through the search process. Adopting the Covenant is one of several organizational tasks that we must complete before we immerse ourselves in reviewing applications. As I write this, we are expecting our first batch of applications any day.
